Madison, CT – At its annual Celebration of the Arts at Scranton Library in Madison, Shoreline Arts Alliance recognized the emerging artists who received the Jeffrey Dobbs Scholarship for Excellence in Painting and the Richard S. Dart Memorial Arts Scholarship.

This year’s recipient of the Dobbs Scholarship is Stacia Comen, a rising senior at Branford High School, who will be advancing her artform and expanding her portfolio this year as she prepares to apply to college art programs. This endowed scholarship was established in

June 2018, in loving memory of artist and Madison resident, Jeffrey Dobbs. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage young artists and provide support for them to further their artistic studies.

The Richard S. Dart Memorial Arts Scholarship was established in loving memory of Clinton resident, Richard S. Dart, who was an avid supporter of the arts within his community. A singer and actor at heart, Richard encouraged all who wished to pursue the arts in any form. This year’s recipient, Maev Webster, is pursuing dance. She will be a senior at Daniel Hand High School and Educational Center for the Arts in September and is searching for a way to translate her passion for dance into a career that shares it with others.
