2026 is a special year for the Madison Art Society Plein Air Painters as we celebrate 200
years of the beautiful shoreline town of Madison. MAS will commemorate the
Bicentennial by dedicating the first 13 weeks of our 22-week plein air season to painting Madison’s 13 historic districts.

Each week, artists will gather in a different area of town, from scenic coastlines to nature trails, capturing the beauty and character of each district. The series will culminate in a special plein air exhibition at the Madison Art Cinema from August through October 2026, with an opening reception on Sept. 10. The public is warmly
invited to attend.
The MAS Plein Air Painters meet every Wednesday morning from mid-May through mid- October, painting from 9am–12pm. The artists enjoy camaraderie with other artists and are important participants in the vibrant MAS community. All MAS members are welcome to
join. Non-members are invited to attend one or two paint-outs as guests before becoming
members of the Madison Art Society.

The Madison Art Society exists to promote and support the arts throughout Madison and the surrounding communities. With more than 250 members, MAS provides exhibition opportunities, educational programming, and collaborations with local nonprofits, while supporting artists of all experience levels. Over the years, MAS exhibitions and demonstrations at the E.C. Scranton Memorial Library have become well-attended community events, generating more than $20,000 in donated sales commissions to support the library.
