Meet Shoreline Arts Alliance Member, Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library's Keyes Gallery, bringing Beauty and Art to Stony Creek

The Keyes Gallery at the Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library, located in the charming village of Stony Creek, features monthly art exhibitions. We host a cycle of changing exhibitions, which introduce the work of emerging and established visual artists from the Connecticut area and beyond.

Recent shows have spotlighted an eclectic variety of work by collage artists, painters, photographers, and have varied in style from modern abstract work to realistic nature painting, and in tone from the mysterious to the whimsical. Each show is celebrated during a lively opening reception, typically held on a Sunday afternoon from 4-6 PM, with refreshments, conversation and community connection.

Because this gallery is a multi-use space, the artwork provides a wonderful backdrop
to other library events including children’s programs, concerts, book discussions, community meetings, and movie screenings.
All of our exhibits are juried by our Arts Committee, with the exception of the yearly “Stony Creek Show,” also known as the “Summer Art Show,” a beloved community event in which people of all ages are encouraged to submit a piece of art celebrating Stony Creek and the Thimble Islands.
Artists interested in submitting work for a juried show can find information on how
to do this on our website: https://www.wwml.org/gallery
The Art Committee also welcomes curatorial proposals.
Here are some shows that are upcoming:
CHILDREN’S BOOK ILLUSTRATION SHOW, curated by award-winning children's book author Sara Levine, and featuring original work from twelve artists including Grace Lin, Jason Chen, Maurice Sendak and Eric Carle. Showing October 9 through November 12. Opening Reception is Saturday, October 17 from 3-5 PM.
BLACK IN PRINT COLLECTIVE, featuring prints by a group of artists. Showing November 6 through November 30. Opening reception is Sunday, November 8 from 4-6 PM.
SCHOOL STREET REUNION, a curated group exhibition focusing on the creative endeavors of people who passed through the graphic design studio of Anita Soos and the photography studio of Sean Kernan. Showing December 4 through January 4. Opening reception is December 6 from 4-6 PM.
We hope that you will come visit our gallery. Come meet us at an opening reception, and let’s continue to grow our shoreline artistic community.
