Meet Shoreline Arts Alliance Member, Guilford Porchfest As It Embarks Upon Guilford Porchfest 2026: All About Music and Community

On Saturday, October 3, porches, lawns, driveways, stoops, and other unexpected stages throughout downtown Guilford will come alive with music as Guilford Porchfest returns for its third year.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., more than 60 Guilford musical acts will perform at more than 50 porches and other host sites, transforming downtown Guilford into one big, walkable celebration of fresh, local, live music and community.
Created in 2024 with a goal of building and strengthening community connections, Guilford Porchfest has remained deliberately hyperlocal. Every solo performer lives or works in

Guilford, and every participating band includes at least one member who does. The lineup spans generations, genres, and experience levels, from young musicians just starting out to seasoned professionals who have spent decades onstage. This year, that local connection extends all the way to legendary Connecticut jam band Max Creek, featuring drummer and longtime Guilford resident Bill Carbone.
But Porchfest isn’t built around one band, one stage, or even one kind of music. Over six hours, attendees can take in performances from folk to rock, jazz to bluegrass, indie to Americana, classical to pop. They might discover a genre or musician they’ve never heard before, see a neighbor in an entirely new light,or find themselves sitting next to someone they’ve passed a hundred times at the grocery store but never actually met.
For one day in October, front yards become gathering places, and strangers become neighbors and friends.
“Our goal isn’t to be the biggest porchfest around,” says Guilford Porchfest co-founder Laurie Kenney. “Our goal is to bring our community together through music and to make those connections last long after the final note is played.”
Guilford Porchfest is entirely volunteer-driven: performers donate their talent, hosts donate their spaces and hospitality, and community members donate their time. The event is also made possible through the support of local donors and sponsors, including Guilford Insurance, Shoreline Arts Alliance, Ascend Bank, The Guilford Foundation, and The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.

“We’ve always said Guilford Porchfest is about the music, but it’s really about what music can do,” Kenney says. “There are more than enough things that divide us. Music unites. If people leave Guilford Porchfest feeling a little more connected to Guilford and to each other, then we’ve done what we set out to do.”
Guilford Porchfest 2026 takes place rain or shine Saturday, October 3, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout downtown Guilford. All performances are free and open to the public in Guilford and beyond.
