Vermilion Theater is proud to announce its Spring 2025 Mainstage production, Juliet and Jul-Yingtai, an original bilingual play developed through the 2024 Vermilion Bilingual Theater Incubator. The show opens Thursday, April 24 at 7:30pm; will run until Saturday April 26, 2025 (2pm Matinee & 7:30pm) at the Yale Crescent Theater. This is an all sold-out run with long waiting lists – we cordially invite you as our media partners and can offer up to two reserved tickets.
Co-produced by Vermilion Theater Inc. (a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization) and Yale Vermilion Theater, this new work continues the Incubator’s mission to reimagine Shakespearean works through Chinese folk traditions and bilingual storytelling in Mandarin and English.
Set in a dreamlike purgatory where souls must choose between reincarnation and remembrance, Juliet and Jul-Yingtai follows two star-crossed women who defy the boundaries of memory, identity, and time. The play weaves together themes of queer love, therapeutic alliance, ancestral memory, and cyclical fate.
