Essex, CT — In 2026, the Essex Art Association (EAA) proudly celebrates 80 years of championing artists and enriching the Shoreline community through inclusive, inspiring exhibitions. Founded in 1946, the EAA has grown into a vibrant cultural hub, welcoming generations of artists and visitors to its historic gallery at 10 North Main Street in Essex.
The milestone anniversary will be marked throughout the 2026 exhibition season, which begins in April and continues through the fall. A variety of juried and open shows, a student exhibition, and special programs will reflect the organization’s long-standing commitment to artistic excellence, creative exploration, and community engagement.
“For 80 years, the Essex Art Association has been a place where artists and art lovers come together,” said Sarah Grote, Gallery Director of the Essex Art Association. “This anniversary is not just a celebration of our history, but of the many artists, volunteers, and visitors who have shaped the gallery over the decades. As we look ahead, we remain deeply committed to creating a welcoming space where creativity continues to thrive.”

The 2026 season will culminate in a special anniversary exhibition and celebratory event in September, honoring EAA’s legacy while highlighting the vitality of its current artistic community. Additional details about anniversary programming will be announced throughout the year.
Located in a historic building in the heart of Essex, the Essex Art Association has long embraced a wide range of artistic styles and voices, providing opportunities for both emerging and established artists. Today, EAA continues its mission of fostering creativity and connection through thoughtfully curated exhibitions and community-focused programming.
The gallery is open from April through September. The full 2026 exhibition schedule is available upon request and will be shared throughout the season.
