Cappella Cantorum presents its festive Winter Concert at the historic Terris Theatre in Chester on Sunday, December 8, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., featuring the Masterworks Chorus and Cappella Orchestra. Music selections include Haydn’s Missa Sancti Nicolai and Te Deum, along with holiday favorites.
The Masterworks Chorus and Cappella Orchestra will be conducted by Dr. Irina Georgieva, the new Music Director of Cappella Cantorum. Replacing long-time director Simon Holt, Georgieva is an Associate Professor of Conducting at Berklee College of Music in Boston and the Director of Music Ministries at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Wilton.
This is Cappella Cantorum’s first performance at the Terris Theatre (33 North Main Street, Chester), which is owned by Goodspeed Musicals, Inc. The location is perfect for concert attendees, who can enjoy an afternoon filled with holiday music followed by some shopping and dinner in the beautifully-lit town of Chester with its “Starry Night” display.
Tickets are $32 in advance or $35 at the door ($16 for students 18 & under). Tickets can be purchased on the website, cappellacantorum.org, by calling 860-532-0454, or from any chorus member.
For another musical holiday treat, mark your calendar for Cappella Cantorum's Annual Handel's Messiah Sing or Listen on Sunday, December 22 at The Kate (Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center) in Old Saybrook.
