BRANFORD, CT January 8, 2024 – Submissions for the Legacy Theatre Independent Film Festival are now open! The three-day screening festival will run September 23-25 at the Legacy Theatre in Branford, which was one of the first silent picture houses in New England and was once home to Orson Welles and his Mercury Players.
This year, the Legacy Theatre Independent Film Festival is excited to partner with the James Blackstone Memorial Library, offering more opportunities for student and novice filmmakers in and around the community, including equipment rentals and workshops.
Film submissions are accepted now through July 8, and those selected for the festival will be notified by August 30. The film festival runs mornings to evenings September 23-25, with a jam-packed schedule of screenings, networking events, and panels, and the award ceremony will take place the final evening of the festival, September 25th. Past esteemed judges and speakers have included 6-time Emmy-award-winning filmmaker Karyl Evans, acclaimed celebrity teacher and author on the craft, Matt Newton, and others. The 2022 Overall Legacy Theatre Film Festival winner, Christopher Rucinski, has gone on to receive critical acclaim internationally for his submitted film, Northern Shade.
