Molly Sullivan McDonald
Art has always been a serious business for Molly, but also, pure fun, joy, and a wonderful opportunity to nurture her mind and spirit while playing. As an artist who loves to work large or small creating visually arresting abstract landscapes, Molly, when painting I love to get out in the color field and take a vacation in her mind, almost as in meditation. Molly lets past and present experiences join with observation and imagination, a mental and visual blend occurs, the spirit of the moment takes over, energy flows, and a color puzzle unfolds. Molly taught art in the Guilford Public School System for thirty-six years. As an artist and art educator in the public and private sector she has won national and local awards. Her artwork in pastel, watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media, and soapstone sculpture has been exhibited in galleries and juried art exhibits throughout New England, and many pieces are in private collections nationally and internationally. Presently Molly is represented in regional exhibits such as the Shoreline ArtsTrail, New Haven Paint and Clay Club, Lyme Art Association, Guilford Art League, Connecticut Women Artist, Madison Art League, and Lyme Art Association .
