Bandstand, Boogie, and the Brill Building: Another Octave Offers Rock and Pop Classics


Cue the hosts! Cue the performers! Cue the studio audience! Rock and pop will rule when Another Octave: Connecticut Women’s Chorus presents its own take on American Bandstand®. Complete with musician bios, song stories and dedications, commercial breaks, and a few surprises, the Bandstand, Boogie, & the Brill Building “broadcast” will feature well-known tunes plus some lesser-known gems from the 1950s through the early 60s. As we channel The Cookies, Leslie Gore, The Righteous Brothers, The Ronettes, The Shirelles, Dionne Warwick, and more, you will be in the studio audience, right there as the show unfolds. Bandstand, Boogie, & the Brill Building will be presented on Saturday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m. at The Congregational Church in South Glastonbury, 949 Main Street, South Glastonbury; and Saturday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Society of New Haven, 700 Hartford Turnpike, Hamden. Since its first show in 1990, Another Octave has been engaging audiences around Connecticut and out of state with energetic performances and an eclectic repertoire that includes standard concert pieces as well as traditional and contemporary music reflecting women’s lives.
