GUILFORD, CT: The Shoreline ArtsTrail’s 17th annual Open Studios Weekend happens right in your backyard—at 30 studios in Branford, Guilford, and Madison on Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11. This juried event gathers some of the finest, award-winning artists on the shoreline and features one-of-a-kind, quality-made items in a wide range of media including jewelry, sculpture, paper, collage, fiber, paint, glass, pottery, metal, and textiles. In addition to the two-day Open Studios Weekend, two pre-launch events are scheduled this fall including group shows at Friends & Company Restaurant (Madison) from October 29 – November 26, with reception on Sunday, November 4 from 2:30-4pm, and Wall Street Gallery (also in Madison) from October 16 – November 3, with an opening reception on Friday, October 26 from 4:30-7pm. These exhibitions are the perfect opportunity not only to sneak a peek at some of the outstanding art made right here in Connecticut but also get a jump-start on Open Studios Weekend. Diane Wright, Member Artist and Chair of the Friends & Co kickoff preview stated, “It’s a triple satisfaction for me to curate exhibitions for Friends & Co, paying it forward to the restaurant, their patrons and our Shoreline ArtsTrail.” Greg Benson and Brian Gondek of Friends & Co said, “Here at Friends & Co we enjoy supporting our local arts community with rotating exhibits, and our patrons love the opportunity to enjoy fine food and artwork from the community. Alice Chittenden, Member Artist and Chair of the Wall Street Gallery kickoff preview said, “The Shoreline ArtsTrail is a wonderful yearly event which allows local artists to showcase their work in a studio setting. Visitors have the benefit of viewing a substantial amount of work and the opportunity to converse with the artists about their inspirations and processes.” Wall Street Gallery owner Jim Reinhart is happy to offer his frame shop and gallery in support of the talented artists who participate in the Shoreline ArtsTrail. Reinhart stated, “Come to the Wall Street Gallery for a sneak preview of the work of local studio artists! You can get a feel for many artists work all in one place.” Now in its 17th year, the Shoreline ArtsTrail is supported by 38 shoreline artists and 7 local business sponsors, including our premier sponsors Guilford Art Center and Zip06. During Open Studios Weekend, the colorful “Open Studio” signs point you to all of these artists and studios.
